How It Works

ThinkPad Price Tracker estimates used ThinkPad prices by analyzing recent eBay listings and grouping them by model.

1. Listings are collected from eBay

The site uses recent eBay listing data as the source for pricing. Listings may include variation in condition, configuration, shipping, and seller quality.

2. Listings are filtered and normalized

Listing titles and available specifications are processed to identify the most likely ThinkPad model and normalize common variations in naming.

Some listings may still be imperfectly classified, especially when sellers use incomplete, inconsistent, or incorrect titles.

3. Model prices are estimated

For each model, the site calculates price statistics such as recent low, average, and high prices from tracked listings.

These values are intended as rough market indicators, not exact valuations.

4. “Best deals” are identified

A listing may be marked as a strong deal when its price is significantly below the recent average for that model.

This is only a price-based estimate. A listing may appear cheap because of:

• poor cosmetic condition
• battery wear or faults
• missing charger or parts
• lower-end specs
• locked BIOS / damaged screens / other defects
• high shipping or limited returns

Important limitations

• Prices can change quickly
• Listings can end or be removed
• Model detection is not perfect
• Some sellers use inaccurate titles
• Regional supply and demand can differ a lot
